We are a group of brave men who answered the challenge of Christ to live and work for the building of His kingdom in us and around us.
Founded by Fr. Emmanuel D’Alzon, the General Vicar of the Diocese of Nîmes, South of France in 1850 to help the Church combat the effects of widespread Industrial revolution and secularization that threatens the image of God in man and man being the image of God.
Since our foundation, the Assumptionists entered into the missionary and apostolic ministries of the Church engaging in community and parish life, pilgrimages, mass and social media, serving the poor, community building, ecumenism, interfaith dialogue and Eastern mission (Bulgaria).
As we concluded our 34th General Chapter last June 25, 2023, we commenced renewing our commitment to the Church and to the world. Our new Superior General Fr. NGOA Ya Tshihemba, AA, clearly points the direction of our Congregation in his opening words in the Acts of the said Chapter:
“This is why fraternity as a gift, as a mission and as a challenge emerged as a topic of reflection for our Chapter from the outset. Our charism already gives us elements of the experience of communion and fraternity. Living our charism to the full, particularly in international and intercultural communities, is already a framework that will enable us to be prophetic signs of God’s plan. Our fraternity must also lead us to propose a simple and sober life, and to commit ourselves to the defense of our “common home”.
“I continue to believe that the path towards real fraternity and holiness is possible. Even if this requires a certain conversion at many levels, there are reasons for hope. My dear brothers and sisters, religious and lay, I invite you to read and III meditate in faith on these Acts of the 34th General Chapter. They are an immense source of hope for our Congregation and for the world.”
May we work together in building God’s Kingdom, who and where we are, and whatever we can share.
Mabuhay!
